Puss in Boots (2011)

So the first trailer of the Puss In Boots has been released. It’ll be in 3D and is coming out November 2011, and stars Puss in Boots from the Shrek series.

I know, you might be suprised I’m supporting a fifth Shrek movie. But honestly, the only reason I even like the 2nd Shrek movie, is because of Puss. I’m a big fan of Antonio Banderas. I have a poster of him in my room. (He is fine!!!). So I plan to see this movie solely based of my love for him!

I am oddly thankful that Puss caught on. He is definitely popular enough to deserve this spin off, it’s not at all from left field. In the first film everyone left remembering Gingy, but all the other films it’s Puss In Boots for sure. He steals the show. Antonio is just so epic xD

I like this new extended teaser. It got a great reaction at my midnight showing of Rango. People got really excited.

I’m a huge fan of him since I saw ‘Once Upon A Time in Mexico’ as a kid (which I probably shouldn’t have, but d*** that movie was good). I plan to check out his earlier films in the Mariachi trilogy this month, and I’m certainly looking forward to this spin-off.

What do you mean by ‘extended’, gazelle? Was there a previous teaser? Also, was this the trailer you saw before Rango?

The teaser is okay, I really liked how effortlessly awesome Puss is throughout. I was half-expecting him to say “I’m on a horse” Old-Spice style at the end, but eh, looks like they missed out on that one. I thought the song was awful (Does anyone know the name? It sounds familiar) and that they should have gone with some Spanish-flavoured instrumentals or something.

Thank god they didn’t go with ‘These Boots Were Made For Walking’.

It’s pretty much the Megamind teaser reskinned. But Megamind was good despite the trailers, so I guess there’s still potential.

Was anyone else kind of disoriented by the shot of Puss in Boots floating above / standing on the camera? Nitpicky, I know, but still…

I’m hoping this is going to be good, but I do wish they would stop with Shrek and do something different .

I think the trailer is appealing enough to have me see it…unlike KFP2. :unamused:

I just wish they’d stop with Shrek, but–I like Puss. That’s about the only shred of respect the Shrek serials get now…

As long as neither Shrek, Fiona, or Donkey make any cameos in it-oh, I jinxed it didn’t I? :sunglasses:

Mhm.

Haha wow, you’re right! It does have a lot of similarity!

I’m glad to see a lot of Puss/Antonio Banderas love on this forum!

Yup.

I didn’t notice it the first time I watched it, but it certainly bothered me upon subsequent viewings.

So I take it this is gonna be an origins story to Puss? I love origins stories (like Batman Begins, Casino Royale, Wolver… oh wait, not the last one). It reveals to you how a character came to become the person, or animal, that he or she is today. Puss’ beginnings certainly hold a lot of potential. How did he become the charming swashbuckler he is now? Who taught him to cartwheel in the air? And most importantly, where did he get those boots?

I assume that this is the story of his orgin. I presume from the characters and settings seem very Spanish. Yes, where did he get the boots? He wasn’t born with them!

I’m wondering if the movie is going to follow in the direction of the original Puss in Boots fairy tale, or if they’re going to go in a whole different direction.

Apparently Salma Hayek will play his love-interest. Hope there’ll be tons of romantic tension! I’m also pleased to see Del Toro as one of the producers.

One thing we can be sure of, though. Puss won’t die in this movie. It’s a prequel!

I sure can’t wait to not watch this movie. :unamused:

My friend and I saw Kung Fu Panda 2 today, and this trailer was shown before it.

We couldn’t stop laughing. It was even better in full screen. I just LOVE Antonio Banderas, and Puss in Boots was the only part of the 2 & 3 Shrek movies that I liked!

So it’s safe to say I’ll be seeing this in theatres.

I might see it, but I don’t really know. I’ve been kinda mad at Dreamworks lately, it seems like all they care about is milking their existing franchises until there’s nothing left.

Really? After seeing Kung Fu Panda 2 and How to Train Your Dragon, I’ve been happier with them than I’ve ever been before.

Yeah, How To Train your Dragon was pretty good, but I have yet to see Kung Fu Panda 2. I don’t really know why I’m mad at them, though.

Ever since the disgraces that are Shark Tale and Madagascar, I have been unhappy with Dreamworks. I almost missed How to Train Your Dragon entirely because of this disatisfaction with them.

This Puss 'N Boots thing sounds interesting. I don’t want to see the trailer until I go see Cars 2. I only want to see fresh trailers when I see Pixar movies in theaters, so…

Also, I want a spin-off on The Gingerbread Man.
