What kind of tree was the main tree in A Bug's Life?

Just wondering… does anyone know what kind of tree the ants built their anthill in? :sunglasses:

I don’t have any idea

Maybe this will help everybody

Yeah, thanks, Dillinger! I should have thought of that.

It looks like a cheery blossom to me

interesting question Snipe maybe we have a leaf expert here on the forum

Taking a course in Plant and Soil Science in my senior year should help me with this! But the most we did with trees is graft an apple tree. I wish I knew, because I love plants! I’m going to take a few college courses in Plant Sciences, and if I learn the answer I’ll be sure to tell you!

All I know is that it’s one of the coolest trees ever!

The same tree is also seen during the “When Somebody Loved Me” sequence in Toy Story 2.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say an oak tree.

hehe

Yeah, I was sort of thinking oak tree too… I just wasn’t sure. :sunglasses:

Yeah! It’s like a oak and cherry hybrid!

So what’s that? A choak? :unamused: 8D

They’re actually called “Oaerry Tree”

Oh! Alright! Thanks!

That is what I was thinking also.

For a second there I thought you were saying an Oarrey tree was real :unamused: silly me.

Who said I was joking?

 Just kidding.

It looks like a windswept cherry blossom tree to me. I found one example on youtube. The artist is from Osaka, Japan. It doesn’t say where it was drawn. The places don’t look familiar to me. I live way north of Osaka.

Honestly, that cherry tree from A Bug’s Life looks more of a bonsai cherry tree. Check out this vid.

BTW, there are one hundred and eight different cherry blossom tree varieties in Japan.

Oak tree? Willow tree? I dunno… I never got much out of science class.
