World Premiere of Cars

On May 26, 2006, Dash and I attended the World Premiere of Cars at Lowe’s Motor

Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since it took me forever to make posts about the event over on

Animated-News.com, I’m just copying and pasting my posts from there to here. So I’m lazy.

I’ve

This is what all the Cars characters came in. It was also designed

to look just like Mack. It didn’t have any eyes

The second photo is of

the pattern on his shirt. It was a gift from John Lasseter. Pretty sweet!

The only big voice actors that weren’t at the WP were Michael Keaton and George Carlin. Paul Newman

WAS there, but you could tell he was in really bad shape because they had to rush him down the red

carpet.

set up outside the speedway exit. We stayed for hours after the movie was over just so I could get photos of

every last thing I could. I think I drove Dash nuts.

All I can say is wow. That is a lot of

pictures. I wish I could have gone. But I guess watching it with your friends in a movie theater is a good

option. I love the guy’s shirt of The Incredibles.

Doug told Dash and I about the time he met John

Lasseter back when he was working at the Magic Kingdom (I recall him saying on the Jungle Cruise). The rest of

his story is a little fuzzy to me, but it ended with him receiving that shirt in the

mail.

Peter Jackson has one too. I remember him wearing it and seeing it in some KK Production Diaries. I was very

envious!

Actually he met John at the Magic Kingdom but not

working the Jungle Cruise. John Lasseter’s first job was at MK working the Jungle Cruise and he likes to go to

the park as often as possible, it was on one of these trips that Doug ran into him and they met. Of course John

can go there and be fairly unrecognized except by the rabid fans. It’s kinda like at the Cars premiere when Dr.

Catmull was mingling with the crowds walking through the stadium. Nobody was any wiser to who he was but I

spotted him about 20 yards away and ran over to meet him.

The

lighting in the McQueen and Sally pics are so cool. I can tell by these images that you had a wonderful time.

hehe - minus the pouring rains, close lightning, hail stones, and near miss by a

tornado… yes we did! =P

Only fair to mention though that pitbulllady came with us - she was alot of fun

to have along and quite a character.

You guys are

too lucky. I never get to go to something like this, let alone be in the presence of famous people.

Ah

well, I’ll get my share soon … from not-so-famous people, but famous in my eyes.

story about the premeire at Animated News. There you can find alot of my interesting tale about what happened at

the premiere.

Cool. Hopefully, since I’ll be working for

Pixar in the future (I’m determined!) I can meet Brad Bird or something. Would be awesome.

Did you get an autograph of any of the stars there?

I did! I got Owen Wilson to autograph my Lightning plushie that I was carrying along

with me. The whole time he was signing his name, I was saying, “Oh my god! Oh my god!” I was

so excited that I couldn’t think of anything better to say. LOL Oh…Well, I also said “Thank you”.

Heehee.

I still wish Brad would’ve been there.

And sorry I didn’t mention you hanging with us

there, PBL, although I thought I said that somewhere else on this site.

Yeah, we were allowed to get right up to them and touch them and have our pics taken

with them - though admittedly at one point I git yelled at for getting a little too close.

Haha! I remember that! And it wasn’t fair because there were so many kids

attempting to climb onto the cars. You were just leaning on Mater.
